I don't know how you guys do it, but those sunrise frosty frozen trail rides are almost unbearable because of the cold. It was a little windy, but man...my fingers and toes were cold this morning! Last night's Monday Night Ride was one to put down in the history books! For the first time ever, I cleared 1k miles in a year! As stated previously, I had three cameras on me while biking. Yeah, I'm kinda crazy like that. GoPro, Canon Elph, and my Canon 40D with my new 50mm lens. I wasn't going to pass up the chance to get some great photos with the snow on the trees. Only problem was that the day was cloudy. The sun eventually came out, once we got home that was!

Last Sunday's snowbiking endeavor proved fruitful. It was fun, it was warm, the scenery was beautiful, and it was one heck of a workout! Decided to stay close to home, partly due to existing road conditions. It's pretty nice to have Tranquility trail less than three miles away! In case you haven't noticed, the white fluffy is coming down pretty hard outside.Will the Mukluk make an appearance? I hope so! Time to lower that psi and see how the bike performs.

It was my goal this past weekend to experiment with the GoPro on a tripod along the trail. But sleep prevailed and I ended up at the Psycowpath banquet. You know, you just might see me out there in 2012 racing again. on the Mukluk or on the Trek Fuel. It's anyone's guess.

Cranksgiving! What is it? Its the event with the funny name where you bike to buy food for the Omaha Food Bank. It's a race of sorts, with classes divided between men and women, trailer, and singlespeed. It's the second year in a row that I've done it and what brought me back? The fun, the biking, and the good cause!

I went back out to Tranquility today with really only one goal in mind. I had my Go Pro mounted to the Enabler fork and wanted to try out some video. The video doesn't seem quite as choppy or bumpy since the bike is so called full rigid. I guess full suspension really magnifies the bumps on camera. I also used as few Go Pro extensions as possible, seems to have helped. Instead of riding Swanson like I had originally planned, Jena and I rode down to good ol' Mineola on a Saturday afternoon. Yes, it was a good healthy 20 mile bike ride. But my meal easily offset the caloric burn. Slick's pork tenderloin with Mineola Browns please!

There is a new monster truck of bikes hitting Tranquility trails and it's called the Salsa Mukluk 2. It's like an object of curiosity, a Frankenstein of a bike frame and huge tires, a beautiful work of art with red accents on a black matte frame. Whatever you want to call it, the bike is a blast to ride!

Basically a few fast food restaurants are finding it faster to have deliveries done by bike rather than by car. What a gorgeous fall day! High of mid 70s, leaves were falling on the trail, and a good breeze was keeping us cool. Cody, Dave N, and I hit up Calvin Crest today for a good two and a half laps of trail goodness. The walnuts and acorns made the trail slick in the corners, but that was the only trouble that we had. I'm including some photos from Branson at Silver Dollar City. Since we don't have cool waterfalls or streams here around Omaha, I try to take these whenever I see the chance. These were handheld, ISO 100, f8 or smaller and pushing 1 sec in exposure. The longer exposure time gives the water the white foamy appearance. Same applies to pictures shot at the ocean. There's no doubt that summer is ending and the daylight is getting shorter. What does that mean for us bikers who can't just sit at home? Night rides! Dust off those Stellas, MiniNewts, and MagicShines, it's time to ride! Where the city lights are in the distance, bugs fly in your mouth, and the bats just might swoop down and go for you.

But lots of other people do! The goal of tonight's fun run/walk at Tranquility hosted by THOR was to get the word out that we help shape and maintain trails that are for multi-use. Whether it is walking, running, biking, snowshoeing, xc skiing, walking your dog, etc. THOR trails are out there and available for use by anyone!
